Maxi Mover | know film

Maxi Mover | know film

Another project with the amazing team over at know film! For this project we utilized both traditional drones and FPV drones.

Indoor drone filming allows filmmakers to explore unique perspectives and angles that would be challenging or impossible to achieve with traditional camera setups. Drones can effortlessly weave through tight spaces creating dynamic shots in the process. Setting up and tearing down elaborate equipment can be time-consuming, especially when shooting in confined spaces. Drones can be deployed quickly, saving valuable time during production. Their ability to capture multiple angles in a single take reduces the need for extensive reshooting, streamlining the filmmaking process and eliminating the need for large camera jibs and cranes.

FPV

FPV drone footage has the ability to fly complex and intricate flight patterns. This creative freedom enables filmmakers to experiment with unconventional angles and narratives. Check out this one-take drone shot we created for Maxi Mover, this footage was then added in snippets to the main video.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro | Meet the fleet

DJI Mavic 3 Pro | Meet the fleet

The DJI Mavic 3 Pro is a game-changer in the world of aerial photography and videography, offering a range of camera options to suit diverse creative needs from one drone. In this blog post, we will explore and compare the key features of the three cameras available for the Mavic 3 Pro: the Hasselblad camera, the Medium Tele camera, and the Tele camera. By understanding the capabilities of each camera, you can see how this drone can benefit your production needs.

Hasselblad Camera

The Hasselblad camera, equipped with a 4/3 CMOS sensor, is the flagship camera option for the Mavic 3 Pro. With a 24mm equivalent focal length and a variable aperture of f/2.8 to f/11, it offers versatility in different lighting conditions. The 20 MP resolution ensures detailed stills and impressive 5.1k 10-bit D-log video recordings. With a native dynamic range of up to 12.8 stops, this camera delivers unforgettable image details.

Medium Tele Camera:

The Medium Tele camera features a 1/1.3" CMOS sensor and offers a 70mm equivalent focal length. With a fixed aperture of f/2.8 and a resolution of 48 MP for photos and 4k 10-bit D-Log M videos, it brings depth and focus compression to highlight subjects and create visually striking compositions. The 3x optical zoom enhances creative possibilities by being able to capture distant subjects with precision.

Tele Camera

The Tele camera, equipped with a 1/2" CMOS sensor, is designed for long-range capture. With a 166mm equivalent focal length, a fixed aperture of f/3.4, and a resolution of 12 MP, this camera option delivers high-quality 4K/60fps videos and detailed photos. The 7x optical zoom provides versatility in framing shots, allowing users to immerse themselves in rich image details. The wider aperture of f/3.4 enables better performance in low-light conditions compared to the Mavic 3, ensuring exceptional results even when capturing subjects at a distance.

The DJI Mavic 3 Pro offers three remarkable camera options to cater to different photography and videography needs. The Hasselblad camera excels in image quality, color accuracy, and dynamic range, providing professional creators with exceptional results. The Medium Tele camera compresses depth of field, highlighting subjects and creating visually captivating compositions. The Tele camera offers long-range capabilities, allowing users to capture distant subjects with high resolution and excellent zoom capabilities. Each camera option brings unique features and advantages to the Mavic 3 Pro, ensuring that creativity can be captured to its full potential and from new perspectives.

Break Time at Electronics Direct | FPV one-shot | Hewitt & Walker

Always a blast to be working with the amazing team over at Hewitt & Walker. This time a very unique was to showcase Electronics Direct’s site in Yorkshire, watch below;

This was a very intricate flight with a heavily choreographed route, the team over at Electronics Direct wanted to do something a little bit different and showcase the space and the team by showing their favourite hobbies.

Using our sub-250g FPV drone meant we could fly around the site and staff safely, with practice flights taking place before the shoot to navigate the route meant that the shot only took three takes in the early morning before work starts. We have since then retired this drone and flying an upgraded version.

All post-production work was carried out by Hewitt & Walker.

New FPV drone! DJI Avata

New FPV drone! DJI Avata

Here's a look at Frankenstein's Avata, our modified DJI Avata smart FPV drone with a duel camera set up. All the bells and whistles of a smart FPV drone with GoPro camera quality and ReelSteady stabilisation.

Super impressed with what DJI managed to do with this system, however the GoPro image quality is just better (in my opinion)… so why not both? Our Avata can record both through the DJI camera boasting 4K 50p at 150mbs as well as our naked GoPro Hero 8 (soon to be upgraded).

FPV One-Shot | Gridline Racing Lincoln

FPV One-Shot | Gridline Racing Lincoln

The home of indoor karting in Lincolnshire…

This project was alot of fun to work on with the team over at Gridline Racing. The aim of the project was to showcase the space in a single take from entering the building to having a lap around the track!

To do this we used the smallest of our FPV drones, although small it carries a stripped GoPro 8, capable of capturing high quality footage whilst still being lightweight.

The process of these one-shots, involves an on site risk assessment, range test with the FPV drones, practice flights and then the final takes.

Our FPV service is becoming increasingly popular as a unique way to showcase certain spaces, if you are interested or have any questions about the process just give us a call or send over an email.

5 Things You Should Know About Drone Wedding Photography

5 Things You Should Know About Drone Wedding Photography

An elevated perspective - do I really need it?

Drone photography allows you to explore unchartered territory; to get those impressive, cinematic shots from a perspective otherwise missed.

Whether this is something you’ve been thinking about for a while, or something that has never crossed your mind, there’s no denying that drone wedding photography and video is on the rise. It’s worth reading on to help you make your mind up as to whether drones have a place at your wedding.

Hiring a beautiful venue? Getting married somewhere unique? A perspective from the sky can show your venue’s grandeur, character and quirks in a way that filming from the ground just can’t.

1.       First up - check your venue thoughts and policies

If you’re thinking of an urban warehouse slap bang in the middle of London city, then there’s a chance drone videos might not be for you, but each venue will have its own policies on drones - we’ll always check these out before you book!

2.        How much?

It’s likely to be less than you think to hire out a drone to capture the key moments of your day, and it’s certainly worth it for the peace of mind of being in the hands of a professional. We can work alongside your photographer and videographer, or provide an edited highlights video ourselves - it completely depends on what works for your day.

3.        Do you just capture a few moments throughout the day?

One of the best parts about having a drone’s perspective is being able to be creative - it’s not just the set moments that come to mind throughout the wedding day, but those you might not expect, such as during a sparkler arch, for example. Having an outdoor ceremony? We can fly unobtrusively and from a distance to really show off your setting!

drone sparklers

4.        Will it match up to the quality of our professional photos and video?

The technology for drones is developing at an accelerated pace - even we’re amazed by the quality of our kit! We can shoot in file formats parallel to those your photographer and videographer will be working with, to ensure the footage fits seamlessly with your day.

5.        Will it take up time in our schedule to have drone photos as well?

The bonus of hiring a specialized drone pilot alongside your videographer and photographer is that while they’re busy capturing you in the midst of all your celebrations, we’ve got plenty of time to get ready for the next flight!

Your photos and videos will shape your lasting memories of your day, and an aerial perspective is the perfect compliment to that. It showcases your day, the beautiful venue you’ve chosen, and even those wide grins on your faces - we pride ourselves in offering a perspective that’s creative and unique, and not just the top of your heads!
